Safe Spaces For School Children
Building Brighter Futures, One Safe Space at a Time
The Safe Spaces for School Children initiative by The Ike Odoeme Foundation (TIOF) is dedicated to transforming the educational landscape in Nigeria. This initiative was born out of the tragic 2024 school collapse in Jos, Nigeria, which highlighted the urgent need to address the appalling state of school infrastructure and management across the country.
Our mission is to ensure that every child has access to a safe, supportive, and conducive learning environment, free from the dangers posed by inadequate facilities.

Key Activities
Safe Learning Environments
Many schools in Nigeria suffer from severe infrastructural deficiencies, posing significant risks to the safety and well-being of students. From dilapidated buildings to unsafe playgrounds, these conditions not only endanger children but also hinder their ability to learn and thrive.
Quality Education
The quality of education is intrinsically linked to the learning environment. Poor infrastructure, lack of proper management, and outdated curricula collectively diminish the educational experience, leaving children unprepared for the future.
Community Involvement
Our initiative empowers communities to take an active role in the education of their children, fostering a collective effort to drive positive change. We believe that community engagement is crucial in identifying problems and advocating for necessary reforms.
